Wilsonin hauta Memphisissa


Charles Kemmons Wilson (5. tammikuuta 1913 Osceola – 12. helmikuuta 2003 Memphis) oli yhdysvaltalainen yrittäjä, Holiday Inn -hotelliketjun perustaja.[1]


Wilson oli kotoisin köyhästä perheestä. Hän aloitti liikemiesuransa peliautomaattialalla ja osti sitten pienen elokuvateatteriketjun. Tarinan mukaan hän perusti motelliketjunsa epäonnistuneen perhelomamatkan jälkeen.[2]


Vuonna 1941 Wilson meni naimisiin Dorothy Leen kanssa.[3] Heillä oli viisi lasta:[3] pojat Spence, Bob ja Kemmons sekä tytöt Betty ja Carole.[4][5]


Wilson kuoli vuonna 2003 Memphisissä ollessaan 90-vuotias.[3][4][5] Hänet on haudattu Forest Hill Cemeterylle.[6][7]


Vuonna 2002 Memphisin yliopisto nimesi hotelli- ja ravintola-alan oppilaitoksensa Holiday Innin perustajan mukaan: Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management.[8]
