Merimies jonka aallot hylkäsivät (The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea) on Lewis John Carlinon käsikirjoittama ja ohjaama brittiläinen jännityselokuva vuodelta 1976. Se perustuu Yukio Mishiman romaaniin Kunnia on katkera juoma (Otava 1971).


Tarinassa merimies Jim Cameron (Kris Kristofferson) rantautuu pieneen merenrantakaupunkiin ja rakastuu leskirouvaan (Sarah Miles), joka on murrosikäisen pojan (Jonathan Kahn) yksinhuoltaja. Pirullisen jengijohtajapojan (Earl Rhodes) vaikutuksesta poika alkaa punoa sadistisia juonia miehen pään menoksi.[1]

Sarah Miles ja nuori Jonathan Kahn saivat kumpikin rooleistaan Golden Globe -ehdokkuuden.[2]


Helsingin Sanomien Paula Talaskivi ei ensi-ilta-arviossaan oikein ymmärtänyt tätä ”hyvin merkillisenä” pitämäänsä elokuvaa. Kalastajakylän kuvaus on hänestä hienoa, mutta elokuvan alun runsaat rakastelukohtaukset antavat odottaa muuta kuin lopun sadismiviritteisiä juonikuvioita. Pääosan esittäjien lisäksi hän kehuu Kärpästen herraa muistuttavan poikajoukon roolitöitä.[3]Video-oppaassa vuodelta 1994 Sam Inkinen antoi elokuvalle kolme tähteä viidestä, mikä vastaa sanallista arviota ”hyvä”.[1]
