Matthias Hallenius (1699–1748[1]) oli suomalainen kielitieteilijä. Hän oli vuodesta 1737 Turun akatemian heprean ja kreikan kielten dosentti, jumaluusopin apulainen vuodesta 1738. Hänen väitöskirjansa vuodelta 1737 oli De Borea-Fennica, ja siinä hän esitti gootin kielestä sanoja, joilla on muoto- ja merkitysvastineet suomen kielessä. Halleniuksen rinnastuksista useimmat pitävät paikkansa. Hänellä oli kuitenkin aikakauden yleisiä näkemyksiä muun muassa siitä, että gootit olisivat germaanistunut suomalainen kansa ja että heprea on suomen kantakieli sekä että muun muassa saamen kieli, viro ja slaavilaiset kielet polveutuvat suomen kielestä.[2]


Halleniuksen veli oli paikallishistorioitsija Gregorius Hallenius.
