Liiketaloudessa |


Visiota voidaan arkikielellä kutsua myös unelmaksi. Visio on arkijohtamisen peruskivi. Sen avulla pyritään luomaan jokaiselle työntekijälle kuva tulevaisuudesta, joka vetoaa sekä ajatteluun että tunteisiin. Visio on jotakin, jonka yksilö haluaa saavuttaa ja joka innostaa häntä. Useimmille ihmisille se on pohjimmiltaan pyrkimys luoda jotakin taloudellista voittoa suurempaa ja merkityksellisempää. Ilman visiota työssä ei ole merkitystä, suuntaa eikä ohjetta esimerkiksi siihen, miten tehtäviä ja kehitystoimintaa priorisoidaan.


Visio on myös osa yrityksen, aatteellisen yhdistyksen tai muunlaisen järjestön strategiaprosessia. Strategia on yhteistä tietoa yrityksestä, yhdistyksestä tai järjestöstä ja sen toimintatavoista, ja se myös syntyy yhdessä tekemällä. Kun henkilöstö halutaan saada mukaan visiointiin, johdon tärkeimmiksi työkaluiksi nousevat tarinat ja kieli, joiden avulla luodaan innostusta. Tarinoiden voimaa hyödynnetään organisaatioiden visiointityössä vasta vähän. Tämä on eräs syy siihen, miksi visio on jäänyt monissa tapauksissa pelkäksi hokemaksi, jolla ei ole käytännön merkitystä.


Alun perin visio on tarkoittanut näkyä tai harhanäkyä, erityisesti uskonnollisessa tai huumavilla aineilla saavutetussa hurmostilassa koettua.
