Monte Irvin


Montford Merrill ”Monte” Irvin (25. helmikuuta 1919 Haleburg, Alabama – 11. tammikuuta 2016 Houston, Texas)[1] oli yhdysvaltalainen baseballpelaaja. Hän syntyi Alabamassa, mutta kasvoi Orangessa, New Jerseyssä.[2][3]


Irvinin ensimmäinen MLB-ottelu tapahtui 8. heinäkuuta 1949 ja viimeinen 30. syyskuuta 1956; hän oli jo aiemmin tullut tunnetuksi Negro League -pelaajana. Hänen joukkueitaan olivat Newark Eagles, New York Giants ja Chicago Cubs.[4][2]


Irvin kelpuutettiin Baseball Hall of Fameen vuonna 1973.[5]
