Benmont Tench


Benjamin Montmorency Tench (s. 7. syyskuuta 1953 Gainesville, Florida) on yhdysvaltalainen kosketinsoittaja. Hänet tunnetaan parhaiten yhteistyöstään Tom Pettyn kanssa.


Tench syntyi Gainesvillessä ja aloitti pianonsoiton lapsena. Hän tutustui Tom Pettyyn 11-vuotiaana. Myöhemmin Tench liittyi Pettyn Mudcrutch-yhtyeeseen. Vuonna 1975 hän oli yksi Tom Petty & the Heartbreakersin perustajajäsenistä.


Tench on toiminut sessiomuusikkona muun muassa Johnny Cashin, Sam Phillipsin, Bob Dylanin ja Rolling Stonesin levyillä. Hän on myös kirjoittanut lauluja muille artisteille, kuten Never Be Youn Rosanne Cashille. Tench on saanut kaksi ASCAP-laulunkirjoituspalkintoa: vuonna 1995 Stay Foreverista (esitti Hal Ketchum) ja vuonna 2001 Unbreakable Heartista (esitti Carlene Carter).
