Espoon Moottorilentäjät lempinimeltään Esmo on vuonna 1974 perustettu moottorilentokerho. Kerhon nimi johtuu siitä, että perustajat olivat espoolaisia yksityislentäjiä. Sen jälkeen kerhoon on liittynyt jäseniä pääkaupunkiseudulta ja muualta Suomesta. Kerhossa on myös ulkomaalaisia jäseniä. Jäsenmäärä on noin 100 (vuonna 2006). Esmon kotikenttä on Helsinki-Malmi.



Toiminta |


Pääasiallinen toiminta on yksityislentämistä kerhon lentokoneilla. Lennot ovat luonteeltaan yleisilmailua (ei siis ansiolentoa). Kerhossa harrastetaan paljon matkalentoa kotimaassa ja ulkomailla. Lentäminen tapahtuu, joko näkölentosäännöillä (VFR) tai mittarilentosäännöillä (IFR). Usealla esmolaisella on mittarilentokelpuutus.


Kerholla on lentokoulutuslupa, jonka puitteissa koulutetaan uusia yksityislentäjiä. Koulutuksen edellytyksenä on kerhon jäsenyys. Kerho antaa jäsenilleen myös jatkokoulutusta esimerkiksi yölentokelpuutusta varten. Lentämisen lisäksi kerho järjestää jäsenilleen erilaisia tapahtumia ja koulutustilaisuuksia.



Lentokoneet |


Kerholla on kaksi amerikkalaisvalmisteista Piper-merkkistä lentokonetta. Nelipaikkainen Piper Archer PA28-181 rekisteritunnus OH-PYW ja nelipaikkainen Piper Arrow PA28R-200 rekisteritunnus OH-PAM. Piper Archer toimii kerhon lentokoulutuskoneena. Molemmat koneet ovat mittarilentovarusteisia.
