I’m currently studying data science and am trying to apply my skills to a small project.
Basically, I’ve collected data about a commodity’s value over two time periods (30 data points each in 4 week and 2 week periods). I’ve also done a rough Twitter sentiment analysis on tweets concerning this commodity, over a much larger time period of two years.
I want to see if the commodity’s value is related to the Twitter sentiment, but I’m not sure what kind of test I should be using. I feel like I might be overthinking, and I should just find the correlation coefficient for the two data sets and be done with it. Is this correct, or do I need to use some sort of hypothesis test instead? Any guidance would be appreciated!
This is my first time posting, so apologies if this is a bad question or if I haven’t been detailed enough.
