Nyarlathotep on fiktiivinen jumalolento H. P. Lovecraftin luomassa Cthulhu-mytologiassa. Se mainitaan Jumalten sanansaattajana, toimien useimmiten Azathothin tai Yog-Sothothin palveluksessa. Nyarlathotepilla on tuhat erilaista muotoa ja se voi ottaa minkä hahmon tahansa. Lovecraft on novelleissaan ja kirjoituksissaan kuvannut vain muutamaa Nyarlathotepin muotoa. Niitä ovat mm. egyptiläisen faaraon näköinen mies (Nyarlathotep -novelli), siivekäs musta savumainen olento jolla on kolmilohkoinen punainen silmä (Vainooja pimeydestä -novelli), noitamenojen "Musta Mies" (Unia noitatalossa -novelli). August Derleth kuvasi Lovecraftin muistiinpanojen pohjalta tekemässään kirjassa Kauhujen kynnys Nyarlathotepia olennoksi josta kasvaa useita lonkeroita ja joka muuttaa muotoaan koko ajan. Aina Nyarlathothepin ilmaantuessaan tässä hahmossaan havaitaan myös "idiootti-huilunsoittajia", pienempiä olentoja jotka tanssivat Nyarlathothepin ympärillä soittaen huilun tapaisia soittimia ja laulaen yksitoikkoisella, humisevalla äänellä.


Nyarlathotepin on ennustettu lopulta tuhoavan koko ihmiskunnan, sillä sen päällimmäisenä tarkoituksena on aiheuttaa kaaosta ja hulluutta maan päälle. Muita nimityksiä mm. Ryömivä kaaos.


Nyarlathotep esiintyy myös Atluksen kehittämässä Megami Tensei -pelien spin-off -sarjassa Shin Megami Tensei: Persona. Myös siinä hänen tarkoituksensa on suurimmaksi osaksi aiheuttaa kaaosta ja hulluutta maan päällä manipuloimalla ihmisiä ja tapahtumia.
