Tuuve Aron mukaan Post Coitum, Animal Triste on pieni mutta erikoislaatuinen elokuvaelämys jo siksi, että keski-ikäisen naisen halua on harvoin käsitelty elokuvassa näin avoimella intensiteetillä. Käsikirjoitus kuitenkin välillä laahaa ja etsii suuntaansa.[2]
