Severinus


Severinus (k. 2. elokuuta 640) oli paavina lokakuusta 638 – 2. elokuuta 640.[1] Hän oli roomalainen ja Abienuksen poika. Paaviksi hänet valittiin kolmantena päivänä edeltäjänsä kuoleman jälkeen, ja viestinviejät lähetettiin heti Konstantinopoliin hakemaan hänen valintansa varmistus lokakuussa 638, mutta keisari Herakleios määräsikin Severiuksen allekirjoittamaan hänen uskontunnustuksensa.selvennä Kun Severinus kieltäytyi, hänen ei sallittu nousta paavin istuimelle lähes kahteen vuoteen. Tänä aikana Herakleios ja eksarkki Isaakki ryöstivät paavin palatsin. Severinus kruunattiin paaviksi vasta 28. toukokuuta 640, mutta kuoli pian sen jälkeen 2. elokuuta 640.
