Esgaroth on fiktiivinen kaupunki J. R. R. Tolkienin kirjoissa.


Esgaroth on rakennettu paalujen päälle Pitkäjärveen Yksinäisen Vuoren Ereborin lähelle. Lohikäärme Smaugin vallattua Ereborin kääpiöiltä Esgarothin asukkaat ovat asuneet jatkuvasti pelon vallassa. Thorinin, Bilbo Reppulin ja kahdentoista muun kääpiön tullessa Ereborille Smaug hyökkää Esgarothiin ja tuhoaa sen. Bard Jousimies tappoi Smaugin ampumalla nuolen ainoaan paljaaseen kohtaan sen iholla. Tämän jälkeen Esgarothin kansalaiset, jotka selvisivät Smaugin hyökkäyksestä, suuntasivat kohti Ereboria, koska he ajattelivat, että kääpiöt olivat lähettäneet Smaugin niiden kylään. He kokosivat myös Synkmetsän metsänhaltiat ja lähtivät taisteluun kääpiöitä vastaan. Myöhemmin kävikin niin, että hiidet olivat kuulleet Smaugin kuolemasta ja olivat tulossa hakemaan kaikki aarteet, jolloin kääpiöt, haltiat ja ihmiset taistelivat niitä vastaan. Kun taisto oli ohi, kääpiöt antoivat aarteista suuren osan Esgarothin kansalle, jotta he pystyisivät rakentamaan kaupunkinsa uudelleen.
