Howard Goodall.


Howard Goodall (s. 1958) on brittiläinen säveltäjä, joka on säveltänyt musikaaleja, kuoroteoksia sekä musiikkia televisiosarjoihin. Televisiossa hänet tunnetaan pitkään jatkuneesta yhteistyöstään komedianäyttelijä Rowan Atkinsonin ja käsikirjoittaja Richard Curtisin kanssa.


Goodall on säveltänyt kymmenen musikaalia, ensimmäisen vuonna 1984. Niitä on esitetty West Endillä ja Off-Broadwaylla ja ne ovat saaneet useita palkintoja. Musikaalia Love Story (2010) on esitetty Suomessakin. Goodallin säveltämästä taidemusiikista menestyneimpiä ovat uskonnollisiin teksteihin tehdyt kuoroteokset His Eternal Light: A Requiem (2008) ja Enchanted Voices (2009) sekä useat psalmien kuorosovitukset.


Goodall on säveltänyt musiikin (sekä taustamusiikin että tunnusmusiikin) brittiläisiin komediasarjoihin Ei yhdeksän uutiset, Red Dwarf, Musta kyy, Mr. Bean, Kovat koppalakissa ja Dibleyn kirkkoherra sekä visailuohjelmaan QI. Mr. Beanissa hän käytti tunnusmusiikkina itse säveltämäänsä latinankielistä kuorolaulua Ecce homo qui est faba. Goodall on myös tehnyt Channel 4 -kanavalle 1990-luvulta alkaen sarjan itse juontamiaan dokumentteja musiikin historiasta. Eräs dokumenteista voitti Bafta-palkinnon.


Goodall on säveltänyt musiikin elokuviin Bean – äärimmäinen katastrofielokuva (1997) ja Mr. Bean lomailee (2007) sekä Winston Churchillista kertoviin televisioelokuviin The Gathering Storm (2002) ja Winston Churchill myrskyn silmässä (2009). Viimeksi mainitusta hän voitti Primetime Emmy -palkinnon parhaan televisioelokuvan musiikin sarjassa.
