Gerard Vultee (1900 - 29. tammikuuta 1938) oli yhdysvaltalainen lentokonesuunnittelija, joka perusti Vultee Aircraft -tehtaan.


Hän opiskeli California Institute of Technologyssä vuodet 1921–1923 lukien ilmailutekniikkaa. Vuonna 1923 hänet palkattiin Douglas Aircraft -tehtaalle rakennesuunnittelijaksi. Vuonna 1928 hän suunnitteli Jack Northropin kanssa Lockheed Vega -lentokoneen, joka siviilikoneena ei sopinut Douglasin tehtaalle. 1928 Northropin lähtiessä perustamaan omaa yhtiötään, Vulteesta tuli Lockheedin pääsuunnittelija. Tässä toimessa hän suunnitteli Lockheed Model 8 Sirius -koneen.


Vuonna 1931 Lockheed meni suoritustilaan ja Vulteen toimen sai Richard Von Hake.


Vultee suunnitteli Vance Breesen kanssa Vultee V-1 -koneen. Errett Lobban Cord rahoitti koneen tuotannon aloittamisen ja Airplane Development Corporation (ADC) yhtiön perustamisen. Se myi lentokoneita American Airlines -lentoyhtiölle vuonna 1933. [1] Tuotanto alkoi Burbankissä siirtyen Glendaleen. [2]Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) päätti tässä vaiheessa, että matkustajakoneiden tulee olla monimoottorisia.


Vultee meni naimisiin Sylvia Parkerin kanssa 19. tammikuuta 1935.


1930-luvun puolivälissä Vultee V-1 saavutti kuuluisuutta, kun Jimmy Doolittle, Harry Richman ja Dick Merrill suorittivat sillä ennätyslentoja.[3]


Sodan tullessa lähemmäksi, Vultee muunti koneen V-11-syöksypommittajaksi. Uusi valmistuspaikka etsittiin, edelleen Kaliforniasta.[4][5]


Vuonna 1938 Gerald "Jerry" ja Sylvia Vultee kuolivat heitä kuljettaneen lentokoneen syöksyessä maahan Arizonassa.[6]
