Argentiinalaisten rauhanturvaajien leiri.


UNFICYP eli United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus on Yhdistyneiden kansakuntien rauhanturvaoperaatio Kyproksella. Yhdistyneiden kansakuntien turvallisuusneuvosto perusti sen vuonna 1964 turvaamaan rauhaa saaren kreikkalaisen ja turkkilaisen väestön välillä. Ajanjakson aikana suomalaiset tutustuivat yhdysvaltalaiseen kenttäradio AN/PRC-25:een, josta tuli Suomen puolustusvoimien prikaatiradio LV 311, mikä johti myöhemmin LV 217:n hankintaan.


Vuosina 1964–1977 saarella oli suomalainen pataljoona (YKSP), jonka vahvuus oli parhaimmillaan yli tuhat miestä. Sen jälkeen UNFICYP:ssä oli yleensä muutaman hengen vahvuinen suomalaisosasto (YKSO) kesäkuuhun 2005 asti, jolloin suomalaisrauhanturvaajien tehtävä saarella päättyi.


UNFICYP:iä on kahdesti johtanut suomalainen: vuosina 1966–1969 jalkaväenkenraali Armas-Eino Martola ja vuosina 1994–1996 kenraalimajuri Ahti Vartiainen.
