Kaarloman II (n. 866 - 12. joulukuuta 884) oli Ranskan (tai Länsi-Frankian) kuningas ja Ludvig Änkyttäjän nuorempi poika. Ludvig III oli hänen veljensä, ja molemmat kruunattiin kuninkaiksi isänsä kuoltua 879. He olivat poikia isänsä ensimmäisestä avioliitosta, jota Kaarle Kaljupää ei hyväksynyt, ja kaikki eivät tunnustaneet poikien kuninkuutta. Ludvigin kuoltua 882 Kaarlomanista tuli valtakunnan ainoa kuningas.[1]




Karolingien hallitsemat maat vuonna 880. Kaarlomanin osuus on sinisellä. Veljensä kuoltua hän peri myös violetin alueen. Vihreää hallitsi Ludvig Nuori, punaista Kaarle Paksu ja keltaista Provencen herttua.


Provencen käskynhaltija kapinoi eikä tunnustanut kummankaan kuninkuutta. Hän oli jo aikaisemmin luopunut uskollisuudesta Kaarlomania ja Ludvigia kohtaan. Tästä seurasi lukuisia vastoinkäymisiä ja piirityksiä. Ludvig III:n kuoleman jälkeen viikingit hyökkäilivät jatkuvasti Ranskaan ja valtio oli sillä hetkellä surkeassa tilassa.


Kaarloman II kuoli metsästysretkellä.[1] Tapahtumaa on epäilty murhaksi mutta tästä ei ole historiallisia todisteita.lähde? Kaarlomania seurasi Ranskan hallitsijana hänen serkkunsa Kaarle Paksu.[2]
