Historia |


Georg Conrad Grossberger ja Hermann Christian Kurz perustivat lyijykyniä valmistavan tehtaan Grossberger & Kurz Bleistiftfabrik vuonna 1855 Nürnbergissä, Baijerin kuningaskunnassa. Gustav Adam Schwanhäusser hankki pahasti velkaantuneen yhtiön omistukseensa vuonna 1865. Tehdas alkoi käyttää tuotemerkkiä Schwan (suom. joutsen) vuonna 1875. Myöhemmin yhtiö nimettiin Schwan Bleistiftfabrikiksi. Yhtiön nimeksi muutettiin 1976 Schwan-Stabilo. Vuonna 2006 yhtiö työllisti 3 000 henkeä ja teki 260 miljoonan euron liikevoiton.



Kosmetiikka |


Vuonna 1927 yhtiö laajensi tuotevalikoimaansa kosmetiikkakyniin ja tämä liiketoiminta-alue on kasvanut huomattavaksi toiminnaksi 1970-luvulta lähtien. Kosmetiikkakynät valmistetaan Heroldsbergissä Saksassa sekä Tšekissä, tosin ilman Stabilo-brändiä.

Schwan-Stabilo kyniä valmistetaan kolmessa tuotantolaitoksessa. Vanhin sijaitsee Weißenburgissa Saksassa, vuonna 1967 aloittanut Swan Malaysia Sdn Bhd Johor Bahrussa Malesiassa sekä vuodesta 1991 lähtien toiminut puukyniä valmistava laitos Český Krumlovissa Tšekissä.
