Wanhan partiomiehen unelma on Santeri Ivalon kirjoittama historiallinen romaani, joka kertoo Ruotsin kuningas Kaarle IX:n unelmasta liittää Vienan Karjala valtakuntaansa. Kuningas kokoaakin noin 1 000-miehisen monikansallisen sotajoukon sotaretkeä varten, joka lähetetään matkaan 1610-luvun alussa Oulun linnasta.


Kirjan päähenkilö on Hannu Krankka, joka oli taistellut aikaisemmin jo maineikkaan Juho Vesaisen alaisuudessa. Tähän talviseen sotaretkeen hän sai johdettavakseen pohjalaisista kootun hiihtojoukon, jonka vaiheista kirja pääosin kertoo.
