Thomas Bloch ja lasiharmonikka


Thomas Bloch (s. 1962 Colmar) on ranskalainen muusikko. Hän asuu Pariisissa. Hän on erikoistunut taidemusiikin esittämiseen harvinaisilla soittimilla, joihin kuuluvat ondes Martenot, lasiharmonikka ja cristal Baschet. Bloch on esittänyt myös muun muassa rockia, elokuvamusiikkia ja maailmanmusiikkia. Hän on säveltänyt ja tuottanut musiikkia myös itse. Bloch opiskeli Pariisin konservatoriossa Jeanne Loriod'n johdolla ja sai ondes Martenot'n soittajana ensipalkinnon. Hänellä on Strasbourgin yliopistosta maisterin arvo musikologiassa. Hän on esiintynyt kymmenissä maissa, ja häntä kuullaan yli 150 levytyksellä. Hän on lisäksi ollut mukana yli kahdessasadassa televisio- ja radio-ohjelmassa.[1]


Blochin yhteistyökumppaneita ovat olleet Radiohead, John Cage, Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Tom Waits, Marianne Faithfull, Bob Wilson, Emilie Simon, Luc Jacquet, Milos Forman ja Daft Punk. Bloch on opettanut ondes Martenot'n soittoa Strasbourgissa vuodesta 1992. Hän on Evian-musiikkifestivaalin musiikillinen johtaja. Bloch esittää sekä perinteistä että nykyaikaista taidemusiikkia ja soittaa vuosittain lukuisia kantaesityksiä avantgarde-musiikista populaarimusiikkiin.[1]
