Varroapunkki (Varroa destructor) on mehiläisen ulkoloinen, joka vaurioittaa tarhamehiläisen toukkia ja aikuisia. Ensimmäisen kerran se löydettiin vuonna 1904 intianmehiläiseltä Kaakkois-Aasiassa. Se on levinnyt tarhamehiläisen mukana kaikkialla maailmaan 1960-luvulta alkaen, ja Suomessa sitä on havaittu vuodesta 1980.[1]




Varroapunkki mehiläiskuhnurin selässä, kiinnittyneenä keskiruumiiseen.


Varroa destructor havaittiin vuonna 2000 omaksi lajikseen erotettuna Varroa jacobsonista. Aiemmin käytettiin tästä vaarallisemmasta punkistakin nimeä V. jacobsoni.[2]
