Bankass on maalaiskunta ja sen keskuskylä sekä Moptin alueen Bankassin piirin hallinnollinen keskus Malissa. Se sijaitsee 117 kilometriä maanteitse Moptista kaakkoon. Kunnassa on 30 200 asukasta (vuonna 2009)[1].


Bankassin kunnan pinta-ala on 927 neliökilometriä. Se rajoittuu pohjoisessa Bankassin piirin Kani Bozonin, lännessä Dimbal Habén ja etelässä Soubalan sekä idässä Koron piirin Dougouténé II:n, Pel Maoudén ja Koporokendié Nân kuntiin. Pinnanmuodostukseltaan seutu on tasankoa. Pysyviä vesistöjä ei ole.[2]


Kuntaan kuuluu 26 kylää ja useita pienempiä asutuksia. Asukkaat ovat etupäässä dogoneja, markoja, fulbeja, samoja ja moseja.[2]


Paikallisia elinkeinoja ovat maanviljely, karjanhoito, käsityöammatit ja pienimuotoinen kaupankäynti. Viljelykasveista tärkeimmät ovat hirssi, durra, maapähkinä, maapapu, fonio, lehmänpapu ja seesami. Kotieläimiä ovat naudat, lampaat, vuohet, aasit, hevoset ja siipikarja.[2]


Bankassin kautta kulkee Moptista Burkina Fasoon johtava maantie RN15. Palveluihin kuuluu kuusi alakoulua, yksi yläkoulu, viisi koraanikoulua, poliklinikka ja terveysasema.[2]
