Henkilöhistoria ja palkinnot |


Scalzi syntyi Kaliforniassa. Hänen ensimmäinen romaaninsa Old Man's War (2005) oli huomattava menestys ja toi kirjoittajalleen Hugo-ehdokkuuden. Elokuussa 2006 hänelle myönnettiin parhaan uuden kirjailijan John W. Campbell -palkinto.


Jo ennen uraansa tieteiskirjallisuuden parissa Scalzi oli tehnyt useita julkaisuja; aivan ensimmäinen niistä oli The Rough Guide to Money Online lokakuussa 2000. Kirjailija on pitänyt internetissä blogia vuodesta 1998.


Scalzi voitti vuonna 2013 Hugon teoksellaan Redshirts[1]


Scalzi on tehnyt Tor-kustantajan kanssa sopimuksen kolmestatoista kirjasta, joista ensimmäinen on vuonna 2017 julkaistu The Collapsing Empire.[2]
