ReactOS on vapaa ja avoin Windows NT -sarjan (NT, 2000, XP) kanssa yhteensopivaksi suunniteltu käyttöjärjestelmä.[3] ReactOS pystyy ajamaan Windows-ohjelmia ja -ajureita.[4]


ReactOS on kirjoitettu enimmäkseen C-ohjelmointikielellä. Joitakin ominaisuuksia, kuten ReactOS Explorer -verkkoselain on kirjoitettu C++-kielellä.[1]


Useat ReactOSin osista on lisensoitu GPL-, LGPL- ja/tai BSD-lisenssillä.


ReactOS:n versio 0.3.8 julkaistiin 4. helmikuuta 2008. Se sisältää TCP/IP-verkko-ominaisuudet ja tukee suosituimpia verkkoselaimia kuten Internet Exploreria ja Mozilla Firefoxia.
