Benea Reach on norjalainen progressiivista death metalia ja metalcorea soittava yhtye, jolla on levytyssopimus Candlelight Recordsin kanssa. Yhtyeen ensialbumi Monument Bineothan sai Norjassa Spellemannsprisen-ehdokkuuden parhaasta metallialbumista. Toinen albumi Alleviat julkaistiin alkuvuodesta 2008. Musiikissa on vaikutteita post-hardcoresta, mathcoresta ja post-metalista.

Historia |


Benea Reach perustettiin 22. maaliskuuta 2003. Perustajia olivat Selfmindeadin rumpali Marco Storm sekä laulaja Ilkka Volume. Mukaan liittyi basisti Morten, kitaristit Tor ja Erik sekä Anders (Digital Audio). Alkuperäinen kokoonpano kesti vuoden ennen kuin se hajosi. Tänä aikana yhtye äänitti live-demo-ep:n. Vuonna 2004 Marco ja Ilkka hankkivat uudet jäsenet yhtyeeseen, ja merkittävin uusi jäsen oli Extol-yhtyeen Christer Espevoll. Yhtye äänitti demon kappaleesta "Pandemonium", jota jaeltiin eri levy-yhtiöille. Yhtye kiinnitettiin pian norjalaiselle Tabu Recordings -levymerkille, joka julkaisi Benea Reachin esikoisalbumin Monument Bineothan. Se toi yhtyeelle Spellemannsprisen-ehdokkuuden metalliluokassa 2006, kilpaillen Enslavedin, Gorgorothin ja Keep of Kalessinin kanssa tunnustuksesta.[3]


Elokuussa 2007 yhtye ilmoitti äänittävänsä toisen albumin tanskalaisen tuottajan Tue Madsenin kanssa.[4] Yhtyeen toinen albumi Alleviat julkaistiin helmikuussa 2008.[5]


22. tammikuuta Benea Reach ilmoitti, että Christer Espevoll ja Håkon Nakken jättivät yhtyeen, ja Mikael Wildén liittyi basistiksi.



Vaikutteet |


Yhtyeen pääasiallinen edustaja Marco Stormon kertonut haastatteluissa, että Benea Reachin vaikuttajia ovat muiden muassa Meshuggah, Neurosis ja Botch. Erityisesti Meshuggahin ep None.[6] Muita vaikuttajia ovat My Bloody Valentine, Cult of Luna ja Mastodon.
