Henri Rousseau: Nukkuva mustalaisnainen (1897).


Nukkuva mustalaisnainen (ransk. La Bohémienne endormie) on ranskalaisen naivistisen taidemaalarin Henri Rousseaun maalaus vuodelta 1897. Se on yksi hänen päätöistään.[1]


Rousseau itse kuvaili maalaustaan näin: ”Mustaihoinen kulkuri, mandoliininsoittaja, nukkuu lopen uupuneena kannun vieressä. Leijona kulkee sattumalta hänen ohitseen, nuuhkii muttei syö häntä”.[2] Tapahtumapaikkana on kuun valaisema aavikko. Maalauksessa vallitsee samantapainen taianomainen tunnelma kuin monissa muissakin Rousseaun töissä. Kirkas valaistus nostaa esiin sekä sinisen taivaan että naisen puvun eloisat raidat. Kaikki maalauksen osat ovat selkein ääriviivoin rajattuja.[3] Sekä puvun raidat että leijonan harjan karvat on kuvattu yksitellen, naiivilla mutta koristeellisella tavalla. Roussaeu käytti tässä hyvin alkukantaista tekniikkaa.[1]


Kun maalaus oli ollut esillä näyttelyssä, Rousseau yritti huonolla menestyksellä myydä sen syntymäkaupunkinsa Lavalin pormestarille ilmoittaen, että se oli tarkoitettu kunnianosoitukseksi kaupungille. Pormestari oli lähinnä huvittunut tarjouksesta.[1] Nykyään maalauksen omistaa New Yorkissa toimiva Museum of Modern Art, joka sai sen lahjana liikemies Simon Guggenheimilta.[4]


Maalauksen leveys on 200,7 senttimetriä ja korkeus 129,5 senttimetriä.[4]
