E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (lyhennettynä DuPont) (NYSE: DD) on yhdysvaltalainen kemianteollisuuden yritys, jonka perusti heinäkuussa 1802 Eleuthère Irénée du Pont. Ensimmäisenä toimipisteenä oli ruutitehdas Brandywine Creekissä, Delawaressa. Du Pont kasvoi sittemmin yhdeksi maailman suurimmista kemianteollisuuden yhtiöistä.

1900-luku |


1900-luvulla se johti polymeerien kehitystä kehittäen useita menestyksekkäitä materiaaleja, kuten neopreeni, Nylon, Lucite, Teflon, Mylar, Kevlar ja Tyvek. Du Pontin toimialaan kuuluvat myös jäähdytysaineet, mukaan lukien pahamaineiset freonit. Yritys on sittemmin kehittänyt nykyaikaisempia jäähdytysaineita.

Yhtiö tekee ja myy hybridi-siemeniä ja geenimuokattuja siemeniä, joista osa jatkanee geenimuokattuna ravintona.



DuPont Suomessa |


DuPont on toiminut Suomessa 1960-luvulta lähtien. Vuonna 2011 DuPont osti tanskalaisen monialayritys Daniscon. Kaupan myötä DuPontille siirtyi Daniscon Hangossa, Jämsänkoskella, Jokioisilla, Naantalissa ja Vaasassa oleva teollisuusentsyymituotato[1] ja Kotkassa oleva makeutusainetehdas.[2]
