Luigi Comencini vuonna 1971.


Luigi Comencini (8. kesäkuuta 1916 Salò – 6. huhtikuuta 2007 Rooma) oli italialainen elokuvaohjaaja ja käsikirjoittaja. Comencini on yksi ”italialaisen komedian” huomattavimpia edustajia, mutta hänet tunnetaan myös erinomaisista lapsikuvauksistaan.[1]


Comencini alkoi kirjoittaa elokuva-arvosteluja opiskellessaan arkkitehtuuria Milanossa. Hän oli mukana perustamassa Italian elokuva-arkistoa. Vuonna 1946 Comencini teki hyvät arvostelut saaneen dokumenttielokuvan Bambini in città (”Lapsia kaupungissa”). Ohjaajan ensimmäinen näytelmäelokuva oli Pikku lurjuksia (Proibito rubare, 1948). Vittorio De Sican ja Gina Lollobrigidan tähdittämästä elokuvasta Rakkauden huumaa ja mustasukkaisuutta (Pane, amore e fantasia, 1953) tuli suuri kaupallinen menestys. Vuonna 1960 Comencini ohjasi toisen maailmansodan aikaan sijoittuvan satiirin Sodan helvetti (Tutti a casa), joka on yksi hänen parhaista teoksistaan.[2]


Lapsikuvaus L’incompreso (”Väärinymmärretty”, 1967) tuotti Comencinille hänen ensimmäisen David di Donatello -palkintonsa. Alun perin televisiota varten tehtyä elokuvaa Le avventure di Pinocchio (”Pinokkion seikkailut”, 1971) pidetään kaikkien aikojen parhaana Pinokkio-filmatisointina. Ohjaajan lukuisista komedioista ja lapsikuvauksista viimeiseksi jäi Marcellino (1992).[3]
