Black Sun Empire on kolmen alankomaalaisen DJ:n muodostama ryhmä, joka tuottaa nykyään pääasiassa drum’n’bassia. Ryhmän perustivat vuonna 1993 Milan Heyboer, Micha Heyboer ja Rene Verdult. Vasta vuonna 1997 yhtye löysi lopullisen tyylinsä, tätä ennen he olivat kokeilleet useita erilaisia musikaalisia tyylejä. Black Sun Empire on saanut voimakkaasti vaikutteita muun muassa yhtyeiltä No U Turn, Prototype ja Virus.


Yhtyeen kappaletta ”Arrakis” käytetään EVE Online -verkkoroolipelin trailerissa[1].
