Riitta S. Latvala (s. 1964 Helsinki) on suomalainen kirjailija.[1]


Latvala on koulutukseltaan filosofian maisteri. Hän valmistui vuonna 1991 Helsingin yliopistosta pääaineenaan yleinen historia. Opiskelujensa aikana hän toimi toimittajana muun muassa Hämeen Sanomissa ja UP-uutispalvelussa. Valmistuttuaan hän siirtyi Yleisradioon, jossa työskenteli 15 vuotta. Vuonna 2007 Latvala siirtyi vapaaksi kirjailijaksi.[1]


Latvalalta on ilmestynyt neljä romaania ja novellikokoelma. Esikoisteos Henkilökohtaista ilmestyi vuonna 1998. Sen keskiössä on 30 vuotta lähestyvä helsinkiläinen sinkkunainen Pauliina.[2] Toinen teos Tytöt (2001) seurasi neljän itähelsinkiläisen tytön elämää ja aikuistumista 1970-luvulta alkaen.[3] Vuonna 2003 ilmestyi kolmas romaani Ihana velvollisuus[4] ja vuonna 2008 historiallinen, 1920-luvun vaihteeseen sijoittuva Taivaanrantojen maalari[5]. Kaikki romaanit kustansi Otava.


Vuonna 2013 Latvalalta ilmestyi novellikokolma Ahtaan paikan kammo, joka oli vuoden 2014 Runeberg-palkintoehdokkaana.[6]
