NBA-seuratBAA:n





NBA:n varaustilaisuus on vuosittainen kesäisin järjestettävä tilaisuus, jossa NBA-seurat varaavat itselleen oikeuden liigaan tuleviin pelaajiin.[1] Varaustilaisuus on järjestetty vuodesta 1947, jolloin se oli vielä BAA:n alainen.[2]


Varaustilaisuuden kärkivaraukset saavat joukkueet, jotka ovat edellisellä kaudella menestyneet heikoimmin. Varausten järjestys määräytyy arvonnalla, johon osallistuvat pudotuspelien ulkopuolelle jääneet joukkueet.[1]


Varaustilaisuuteen kuuluvat automaattisesti pelaajat, jotka ovat pelanneet neljä vuotta collegessa. Myös 22 vuotta täyttäneet tai täyttävät pelaajat ovat automaattisesti varauskelpoisia. Sen sijaan nuorempien pelaajien on ilmoittauduttava kirjallisesti viimeistään 45 päivää ennen varaustilaisuuden alkua.[3]


Kaikki ensimmäisellä kierroksella varatut pelaajat saavat sopimuksen NBA:han, kun taas toisen kierroksen varauksille sopimusta ei tule automaattisesti.[3]
