Pääartikkeli: Suffren-luokka (fregatti)

Alus tilattiin Brestin laivastontelakalta. Sen köli laskettiin joulukuussa 1962 ja alus laskettiin vesille 15. toukokuuta 1965. Alus otettiin palvelukseen 20. heinäkuuta 1967.[1]
